A Day in the Life of Ryan
The idea behind this project was to make a book that used various images to display actions and routines that I do every day. I originally did this project my first semester as a graphic designer. Because I was so new to the field, many of my figures looked very blocky. When I went back to redo it two years later, I realized the figures looked similar to the figures on roadway signs. Because of this similarity I decided to make the book’s style reminiscent of those signs. In my research, I found most of the signs with human figures on them were yellow with a diamond shape. I also found the figures were rarely standing straight legged and usually had a leg bent. To keep the style of the signs, I tried to keep the images simplistic, trying to convey different depths in the image though different line width and sizes.
