This project is a redesign of the book Tarzan of the Apes. Since the book is set around the rain forest, I tried to design around that. I gave the cover the look of muddy ground with various sticks and leaves strewn around. I also wanted to focus on the separation that happens between Tarzan and the other apes because of the difference in appearance. To do this I added a footprint on the front and back cover, the front being that of a gorilla and the back that of a human. I tried to make the footprints look deeper and have a more wet and rain forest like feel to them by adding a little blue to the center of the footprints, making it seem there is water in the bottom of the footprint. I also carried this idea through into the book, having the chapter headers display a line of muddy human footprints.
